Map change (please)

I just want to raise some very concering things about the current map and overall server health.

Right now, the playerbase is CLEARLY dying. The city feels empty most of the time, and activity is so much lower than it used to be. Back in C8, the server consistently averaged 20-30 players, which made RP actually feel alive. Streets had multiple interactions ongoing most the time, combine actually had things to respond to rather then just firefights and civillians werent just loot farming for fighting combine.

The map change was supposed to help out with complaints (mainly from combine), but a month has passed and it hasn't made any noticeable improvement. In fact, many of the same people who complained about the old map dont even get on anymore. So realistically, the map change didn't fix the problem, it just swapped environments while the core issue stayed exactly the same.

At the moment :
The city feels dead and empty
Player retention is worse, not better AT ALL.
Combine presence and activity has not improved.

I'm not saying C8 was perfect, but it clearly supported a healthier average pop and more consistent RP. If the goal is to revive the server, we should seriously reconsider whether the current map is helping at all, because right now, it doesnt look like it is at all.

My map suggestions:

+Support the player count has been tanking lately, many people don't like this map especially when all the combat is confined to the dior-north road-cat above plaza the outlands are also massive so u don't meet players often the sewers are just a bunch of small tunnels execpt like 2 rooms

Prior to even going to City 8, a poll was made asking to community which map we wanted. City 8 Lumen won and the community was thriving, lots of RP scenarios, combine could do more than just fight rebels from time to time, and it was just an all around good map that had players returning day by day. Not even a month in and completely behind the communities back, y'all changed it to i17, and for what? The community didn't ask for this. To be quite honest I feel like we all felt confused and betrayed. i17 is way overused, I don't care how many edits and changes you make to i17 in an attempt to save your dying community, you all shot yourselves in the foot with this one and are now feeling the repercussions from it. Do another stupid move like this and you might as well say goodbye to your community and Astronet as a whole when your server becomes a baren husk of what it used to be.

i also would like closer contact w players. i17 is a classic but i also dont really wanna play it anymore and i've only been playing maybe like two weeks. bring in terminal 6. any version of that map is cool. its tight, plenty of cca room, has a whole 'badlands' esque exterior over the wall, perfect for rp as it's perfect for the transient nature civilians are forced into, and honestly cozy buildings to set up in for living/business alike.

im privvy to the sym versions but there IS a synapse version apparently that idk too much about. just change the map.

This is actually the map I'm using when developing lol
I don't know how it will work but it's a decent looking map.

Not sure what others think however.
Does that map run well?

Just wanted to clarify we did NOT have a poll for City 8 Lumen, We take these posts seriously and if we could get the community to provide valid maps that are acceptable and deemed well agreed upon then a map change might be "possible"

With all due respect I despised City 8. City 17 IND isn't ideal I admit but it serves a purpose.

Should we have a map change eventually? Yes I do agree but we should NOT go back to city 8.
City 24, looks nice but that seems to be the only real positive I have for it given past experiences.
City 9 looks like it has potential but I've never played that map so my opinion is limited to the images on the steam page for now.
City 17 Redux is from what I recall a very enjoyable map and both simple and large enough to be fun, all while looking good.
City 3 has it's positives but it kinda looks... well awful. I get that most cities are supposed to be damaged but even the area that seems upper class looks horrible.

So if I were to pick it'd be a 50/50 between City 17 Redux or City 9.

btw, polls SHOULD be a thing, gambling with maps with the result of if the community likes or dislikes it will reflect on stated voices and playerbase numbers/engagement. polls are a way to guarrantee a base of likings and to play it safe. all around, polls are a good thing thats missing with literally no negatives on such system

I agree on this take, City 9 and City 17 Redux (to my knowledge) are very good maps. I especially like City 9 due to it's vast open OZ, and inner city. Both of which are absolutely EXCELLENT for hosting events.

Here's some screenshots I took of the OZ of City 9, City 9 would make perfect for both OZ RP and in-city RP with it's multiple apartments and shop-fronts. Along with the laundry-mat and garage factory thing (for some reason the screenshots aren't attaching to the post). Along with what City 9 has to offer:

City 9 map has:
3 apartment buildings (with 2 stores at the bottom which is great cuz civvies will be able to go down into their in-apartment complex convenience stores to buy some shii, one has 6 apartments, the other has 8 apartments, another one has 9 apartments).

It has a trainstation where CPs can actually do trainstation patrols and RP

It has 4 stand-alone stores that are right next to each other lined up, so there can be some competition regarding sales, with 2 additional ones on the other side of the map right next to each other aswell.

A small livable 3 rooms (that you can decorate with your stuff)

A hospital (with an actual back-room for rp too)APC garage

A beautiful and terrifying (with it's presence) nexus

A laundry factory thing (and another garage factory thing somewhere else)

Multiple entrances into the sewers

AN ACTUAL REMARKABLE OZ (that includes a train depot area, a resistance camp, fucked up river, and multiple other houses)

Looks amazing in my opinion if its stable then hell yeah

also i think everyone responding to this is a sign we need the map change after kul's event
I mean it can be used as the perfect RP and lore worthy excuse for a event after this one where the biomass outright forces us out the city.
