I think I speak for all rebel & civi players when I say that moonshining and scavenging get old after awhile. I get that the main loop will always be supplies > craft > shotcop. But variety would go a long way for player retention, especially for those of us who value ambient atmosphere and character building over shotcop
As it stands the only passive activities are:
* Moonshining
* Scaving/crafting
* Water purifying (returns arent great atm)
* Grub hunting? (combat required)
* CWU factory/trading
* Building
* Rations
There is lots more potential in the impulse schema, ESPECIALLY now that we have the 1+ gb of Willard assets added as of the recent update. Taking this into account, I have some ideas:
* FARMING: There are TONS of models across 3 separate addons dedicated to farming produce, herbs, and other cooking ingredients. This would be a great alternative to moonshining, and you could even implement a temp-buffs system akin to Vortessence tied to contraband organic food, i.e. run speed, health, melee dmg, maybe even carry capacity. It would even give water purification another use, and making it illegal would add to the oppressive atmosphere. There is even a rebel variant model for cigarettes, so growing tobacco could even be an option.
* FISHING: The river on T6 is full of leeches, but the willard pack contains models for both leeches raw & cooked as well as canned! It would be an alternative to antlion hunting that wouldn't require firearms and ammo, but would still be risky given its proximity to the OW base. Civis could craft nets which could be used on certain leech-infested water sources, and then could use metal plates and glue to can them for lower weight?
* ANTLION HUSBANDRY: Grub hunting is high-risk low-reward considering how long it takes to gather + craft health vials, which is why even long after its implementation the meta is still just mass buying health kits as CWU. If grubs had a low% to drop eggs that could be grown into nugget-producing grubs, it would encourage hunting AND give a potential use to human meat and/or the aforementioned leeches. Imagine if Vorts could have their own pet grubs to supply the resistance with health vials. If this is added I highly recommend allowing for cleavers to be used on body bags
* TECH THEFT: There's little incentive to risk losing an expensive EMP on a combine shield other than to troll or open paths for shotcop. Perhaps make it so that, whenever an EMP is used on a shield or lock, there's a very small chance to drop a circuit board. I would also recommend allowing the use of EMPs to disable combine terminals for potential resources. It would give metrocop technicians more work, and it would make the EMPs more useful considering their high cost.
