Ammo changes

This thread is made with the sole purpose of getting feedback from Resistance players with some ideas I have regarding ammunition.
I understand that these changes may be seen as another "rebel nerf", but please provide constructive criticism.

1. Three tier gunpowder system
I propose that gunpowder should be of different types. For example:
  • low-grade gunpowder
    • used to craft low caliber ammunition, such as Pistol ammo.
    • can be upgraded to the next tier of gunpowder (3:1 ratio suggested)
    • FUTURE PLAN: add a crafting recipe of some sorts
  • mid-grade gunpowder
    • used to craft mid-tier ammunition, such as SMG ammo.
    • used to craft the IED
    • can be upgraded to the next tier (2:1 ratio suggested)
    • can be degraded to low-grade gunpowder (2:1 ratio suggested)
    • replaces the current gunpowder item
  • high-grade gunpowder
    • used to craft powerful ammunition, such as Rifle & 357 ammo.
    • can be degraded to mid-grade gunpowder (1:1 ratio suggested)

2. Different caliber ammo boxes
This is simple - each gun uses a certain caliber, for example, the MP5 uses 9x19mm and the MP7 uses 4.6x30mm.
With this change I propose we stray away from the Pistol-SMG-Revolver-357 ammo types towards a more realistic approach.
This also includes adding ammunition tiers. And you should be able to exchange one caliber of a certain tier to a different caliber of that same tier at a workbench, with no extra materials.



These two are just a rough idea of a rework I have in mind. No work has been started and will not start until solid feedback has been given, and approval for the roadmap has been greenlit. I don't want this to be too harsh on rebels, so any criticism or new ideas are welcome! :)

This would make sense if guns were more powerful, but it already takes nearly 1 whole mp7 magazine to kill a cop, it'd be adding more effort for little reward
 
What's the purpose of introducing different GP qualities? Balance? The higher caliber weapons (besides the Magnum which has already been nerfed i believe) weren't ever common picks in the first place, nor are they overwhelming in combat, so i see no reason as to why we should make gathering the materials to craft their ammo even more expensive then it already is. Rebs already don't see higher caliber weapons worth using alot of the time (they cost a ton to make, they barely peform better then the SMG if at all, their boxes are more expensive, and offer less rounds and CPs don't drop ammo for them so whats the point?), so why make them even more unappealing?

In fact, one of my biggest gripes of alot of HL2RP servers- including this one- is that getting the ammo for a gun as a reb quickly becomes more expensive then the gun itself.

Only way something like this would work is if rifles absolutely FUCK compared to SMGs and pistols to make up for the time and resource costs of making bullets that require rarer resources, which would just upset the CP mains even MORE.

As for replacing ammo groups with actual IRL ammo calibers, i wholeheartedly agree. Being able to balance ammo price and amount at a individual basis instead of having a 5.56 gun share the same ammo pool with a 308 gun that deals twice the damage a bullet would make cost balancing be alot better!
