What rank are you applying for?: Officer
Why are you applying for this position?:
I find myself more than competent to put my first step forward into the supervisory roles of the Civil Protection here on Astronet. I'm applying to not only find my footing, but to be a role model as a unit that can both lead, train, and push others to excel. An issue that often arises with the supervisory ranks is that people feel a sense of "power-trip" when they get there. I can assure you that this is not me. I want to use this opportunity to reach out and guide the next generation of HL2RP Civil Protection players, to be a shining beacon of which they can look up to, and be inspired to follow. That is why I am applying: to be a leader, to push others to do the best they can do.
Why should we choose you over other applicants?:
As stated, I find myself competent enough to perform the tasks laid before me as a member of the Civil Protection supervisory team. I want to establish a means for people to be trained, to learn how to perform their tasks to the best of their ability, and to push through hardships that plague our faction. My first idea, start a Training Academy. A group of Officers+ who are tasked with guiding the lower units, training them on their specialization's purpose, and helping them find the best way to play the role, suited to their personal playstyles. Training on how to patrol with efficiency and with minimal casualties. Training on how to play proper support with GRID and HELIX. Training on how to properly play the role of JURY. I plan to be a roleplay-focused supervisor, as opposed to a strict run-and-gun primordial threat that some think they need to be. That is what I want to do. That is why I believe you should choose me.
What prior experience do you have in leadership positions? (Doesn’t have to specifically be HL2RP):
In real life, I hold a position as a Shift Supervisor at a local cafe, managing a shift of about 5-8 people at any given moment. I assist my manager in running the operations of her cafe smoothly, and I help with team morale, keeping everyone happy while they work, and training them on what they need to do.
In HL2RP, I've never really been a supervisor before; I hold the position of "Commander" on |Federal| HL2RP, but that is because of my connections with the owner, as we've been friends for some time. I've always played the role of the "Rebel Main," but here, I want to try something different. I've taken my experiences from Serious roleplay and begun applying them here. I've done the best I can at leading, patrolling, and enforcing, all in a fun, roleplay-centered focus.
What kind of activity can we expect to see from you?:
I am a College Student (Geaux Tigers), but plan to be decently active, even when I return to university.
I can say expect a good 7-8 on the activity scale out of 10, on weekends, and a good 5-6 on weekdays.
Do you have a working microphone?:
I do, but I don't usually use it. I prefer to type, as I feel my typing speed is rather fast, and makes up for my lack of use. However, if required, I will begin using my microphone.
You’re in the Nexus, and an i4 comes up screaming in your face and insulting you. What would you do in that situation?:
Firstly, I would assess the situation and begin to record, in case something went wrong, and I would need justification. I would immediately tell the unit to suspend, to begin acting cohesive, and to try to de-escalate. Assuming this user has no intent to roleplay, and is there just to act non-cohesive, I would deservice and defunct, alerting units to 10-22 the next BSL. If the unit returned, I would consult with other supervisors on the next course of action, likely a temporary Combine-team ban.
An i3 is being non-cohesive on the radio, saying things like “idk lol” or “dude I just killed that citizen lmao”. How would you respond?:
Firstly, I would play it in character, telling the unit to remain cohesive on the radio and to cease useless chatter, likely saying something like "Turn off your radio, i3. Cease your hot-mic." I would then privately message the player, instructing them to maintain some realistic chatter on the radios, adhering to their codes and procedures, while referring them to the handbook. More often than not, incompetence like this comes from a lack of experience; however, if the unit ignores me and continues to act non-cohesive, I would mark them defunct and deservice them, whilst once more referring them to the handbook in PMs.
During a patrol, an i4 arrests someone for the incorrect charges. They don't seem to know what they're doing very well. How would you correct them?:
Firstly, if the jailed individual is truly innocent, I would do my best to get them out of jail in a timely fashion. Nobody likes to sit in a fictional prison for something they didn't do. I would then refer the i4 to the handbook and begin a small training session on proper charges and how to handle future arrests. As stated in my last question's answer, issues like this often arise from inexperience, rather than true incompetence or lack of care. Upon ensuring the unit understands the basics of how to properly charge, going into the future, I would send them back out on patrol, keeping a close eye to ensure it doesn't happen again.
You’re a DcO, and an OfC loses his temper and deservices a unit for a minor infraction, which is against our rules. How would you punish the OfC?:
To start, I would move to the Nexus, away from public earshot, and call the offending Officer to my position. I would explain how and what he did wrong, and begin explaining the proper procedures that could have been followed in that situation. I would also take the time to hear the Officer's side of the story, as this allows me to not only hear the unit out and de-escalate but also understand where they are coming from. I would then look into the unit's track record, seeing if he has any infractions, or if this was truly a one-time fluke. I would reprimand, but be fair and just, and send the unit back out, whilst taking down his tagline, SteamID, and Steam Name, and forwarding it to other High Command, to ensure that future situations be handled appropriately.
You're leading a PT in RDC and hear a beep nearby followed by citizens shouting in code to each other. What do you order your PT to do and what are your next steps?:
I would immediately alert my PT to fall back, to not push into what may be an obvious trap. I would then order them to split up, to surround, and to subsume, whilst radioing in a possible Code-10 at my location. Upon detaining all offending citizens, each citizen would be searched and brought before JURY units to be interrogated.
A Necrotic outbreak is discovered by your PT and signs show it may already be out of containment of the area, what is your immediate response?:
I would immediately radio in the outbreak and begin attempting to form a perimeter to contain it to the best of our ability. Upon the arrival of additional units, we would begin advancing, attempting to quell the issue, whilst others keep the area off limits to potential civilian threats. Depending on the location of the outbreak, as well, we may wait for Overwatch support.
Thank you for taking the time to read my application! Any criticism is greatly appreciated!
