Overwatch Scanners

This is a short and simple suggestion which can be built off of as a foundation if devs wish to code claw/shield scanners fully

The idea is to give a OTA division, open to suggestion on which (personal opinion is RANGER), access to scanners but with a few distinct differences.
The differences being the following:
  • Claw/Shield Scanner model as opposed to standard scanner model.
  • Spawn and use strictly kept to Outlands
  • No camera flash (if scanners still have that, unsure.)
  • Toggled searchlight
  • Deployable mines (ONLY WHEN devs are ready to fully implement, if at all.)
  • Minimally higher HP and DR than standard scanners
Giving this to OTA would give them an edge in outlands and it'd fit better for sending out a claw scanner to do a solo outland sweep rather than RANGER doing it on foot.
Adding an aerial threat that can't outright shoot you or deploy OTA like a gunship/dropship/hunter chopper would give rebels a bit more pause.
providing them more reason to stay in sewers or move from cover while in the outlands after spotting a claw scanner as opposed to staying out in the open too much.

Finally, OTA aren't just statues!
Although i'd like to suggest to have the mines be a bit more forgiving than in Half Life 2, given that we are slower than in the original game iirc
Oh yes the mines would certainly be nerfed in comparason to the HL2 games.

Working theory from me would be:
  • Mines can be emped for parts, but like mines in every game ever you gotta be slow and steady. To avoid setting it off.
  • Destructable with HP threshhold so if shot enough they'll explode
  • Mines don't discriminate, you step on a mine it will explode regardless of if it's yours or not.
  • Have a MAX of 3 active at a time per claw scanner, if they try and place a new one, it despawns one. So on placing the 4th you'd despawn the 1st.
  • Damage would need to be balanced (I may be balancing team but I don't know shiz about damage.)
  • Mines don't detonate from just having a random prop thrown at them.
  • Rules against just going out into outlands and dropping mines onto a NPC spawn or exit from city into oulands.
  • Ammo for mines so you do need to exit so they can reload, already have a timer for scanners being used again after exiting or being destroyed but maybe just extend it by a 10 or 20 more seconds for Claw Scanner.
