What rank are you applying for?: OfC
Questions
Why are you applying for this position?:
I'm applying for this position because I am interested in seeing this server thrive and historically, Civil Protection has always been one of my favorite factions across Impulse HL2RP. I just really enjoy the strategy, gameplay, and dynamic between the city, rebels, and Combine and I think Civil Protection is always basically on the frontline of the combat and keeping the city under control. Also, the teamwork and successfully pulling off operations and tactics to secure a victory or generally having enough coordination to outsmart or outmaneuver your adversaries is really entertaining, and although Impulse as a gamemode might seem to be quite simple to follow it has a surprising amount of depth and nuance that may not be entirely understood from a cursory glance. Also, the natural dichotomy of how impulse is structured typically means that the gameplay for Civil Protection is extremely unpredictable and great for replayability, as you genuinely have no idea what the rebels will bring out and you are forced to work with what's at your disposal and generally have to work under circumstances where the Rebels are exploiting strengths in positioning or from surprise. All of this is to say that the general gameplay flow of Civil Protection can, in my opinion, be one of the most entertaining gameplay loops to stick yourself in after you get to a position where apt options and counterplay are afforded to you in situations. I also feel comfortable with the concept of being Supervisory in a server like this, as I've done it many times before for sometimes lengthy durations, even if those servers may have had differing setups for how their Impulse gameplay formulas worked.
Why should we choose you over other applicants?:
It's upsetting to consider that my application might take away from another applicant, but I'll just list some factors that may give me the advantage over the common denominator. I've been playing Impulse since Original Impulse, my previous years have been filled with Leadership positions and playtime in either Impulse HL2RPs or Combine Versus Rebel servers, I have 19,400+ hours in Gmod, I'm almost 19, and I have a vested interest in seeing the server grow and improve as I've really enjoyed my playtime so far, and I've heard of great things coming soon as well.
What prior experience do you have in leadership positions? (Doesn’t have to specifically be HL2RP):
With getting older you realize that other responsibilities enter your life and maybe you shouldnt be playing Gmod for 140+ hours in 2 weeks, but you can expect an elevated and reasonable playtime unless extraneous circumstances. Most likely on about 4-5 days a week, at least maybe 2 or 3. College or work may limit this in certain situations
Do you have a working microphone?:
Yes
Scenarios
You’re in the Nexus and an i4 comes up screaming in your face and insulting you. What would you do in that situation?:
I'd try to understand what is wrong and attempt to hear what is going wrong that caused him to act like this. I've had experience with units that have genuine IRL conditions or who are irritated about a multitude of factors that are genuine complaints or come from misunderstandings that need to be cleared up, so before any concrete disciplinary action I would make sure the situation is completely laid out in front of me. Depending on what caused this outbreak and how the conversation evolves his punishment can vary wildly, and conflict resolution should be the priority. However, if he is just being a minge and has no interest in actually participating and just wants to fuck around for the sake of it and escalates the situation without reason or is being a nuisance to other units, I would take whatever disciplinary action I have access to like deservicement, demerit, or further.
An i3 is being non-cohesive on the radio, saying things like “idk lol” or “dude I just killed that citizen lmao”. How would you respond?:
I would immediately ask the i3 to remain cohesive over radio and if he's in my vicinity, I'll talk to him about his radio communication personally. Given the opportunity, I will attempt to educate him on the correct terminology and radio etiquette so he can improve and understand what is expected of him for the future.
During a patrol an i4 arrests someone for the incorrect charges. They don't seem to know what they're doing very well. How would you correct them?:
if required, I would lower the charge time on the arrested Citizen if it's an increased amount than they should have gotten, but then I would pull aside the i4 and perhaps step aside from the patrol and explain exactly which charges should have been used and why the charges they chose don't apply. I would answer any questions they provide and also give proper documentation and make sure they have proper access to necessary resources, such as the handbook or the rule page. I would then make sure they stay patrolling with me, and I would attempt to improve their understanding and gameplay as we patrol.
You’re a DcO and an OfC loses his temper and deservices a unit for a minor infraction, which is against our rules. How would you punish the OfC?:
I'd call the OfC to Nexus and explain exactly what was wrong about his conduct and how he could have followed the rules and regulations properly in that situation. It's also very important to allow the OfC to explain themselves, even if you already know basically the entire situation, as you can get into their mentality, and it doesn't feel like a one-sided beatdown. Assuming this is one of his first conduct breaks, I'd make sure he knows he is under supervision and practically on thin ice and needs to be more controlled and mindful with his conduct. I would also let other High Command know of the situation for monitoring, but it shouldn't be blown out of proportion if he corrects his behavior and becomes better in the future.
You're leading a PT in RDC and hear a beep nearby followed by citizens shouting in code to each other. What do you order your PT to do and what are your next steps?:
First I'd backpedal and tell my PT to do the same and disperse in vocie chat, and if I live long enough to make it to make it to relative safety I'd report "CODE 10 IED THREAT IN RDC" in radio. Any Citizens seen holding or carrying IED-shaped items will be gunned down immediately.
A Necrotic outbreak is discovered by your PT and signs show it may already be out of containment of the area, what is your immediate response?:
I report it's position into radio and form a perimeter around the area, and if possible I'd mark the area as condemned and off-access for Citizens. Whilst we have enough backup to deal with the situation, we would push in and attempt to clear the area whilst staying together, healing and laying down fire from safety. A PT or some CPs may be assigned for perimeter watch depending on manpower.

What prior experience do you have in leadership positions? (Doesn’t have to specifically be HL2RP):
- Deep Gaming Civil Protection Commander (Faction Lead), Honorary Combine Team Leader (Transhuman Supervisory), and experience as the following ranks: DcO, DvL, SqL, & OfC / RL. Experience as Division lead for SWORD (Handpicked Combat division). The server varied largely in population from 100 daily to much lower pop, and it also became known as Pinnacle Gaming after an administration change.
- Pinecrest Civil Protection Commander (Faction Lead) lower server pop with more methodical gameplay.
- Triage STORM i1 (Handpicked Combat division, whitelisted i1)
- Landis i1 / EOW (whitelisted i1)
- 3rd in command for Combine in Definitive Networks Combine Versus Rebels, acting as Leadership focused on faction organization and upkeep as well as recruiting and maintaining other leadership members. 5,000 of my hours are in this server alone, I might enjoy source combat.....
- I also have had other positions in Gmod that come with my playtime in this game, but they aren't as important in my opinion to this application as these. I also excluded some Impulse servers because they fell out of my instant memory or I didn't feel like their inclusion was that important since they were more obscure or short-lived. (you still live in my heart)
