When a Civil Protection unit confiscates a contraband item, it will be put into a secured container that can be broken into with a Lockpick when that unit dies.
(literally EFT secure container or the divisions dark zone container)
-Containers will have a limited amount of items to hold (about 15 pound limit, once full a notification will show up that they cannot carry anymore)
-Only weapons, ammunition or rare materials will be allowed to be retrieved from this since common contraband like gunpowder isn't scarce at all.
-Confiscated items wont be able to be retrieved once they're recycled or put into a body bag
-Units who have confiscated items that can be stolen will have a box behind their waist

Thank you for reading im out of ideas

Although I do not believe a dedicated container is necessary but it would be nice to be able to retrieve items if the CP is killed.

Right now the issue is as soon as a rebel dies that is pretty much it for their gearset and rebels aren't able to profit.

I'd actually remove the Confiscate menu when you press E on the illegal item and add it directly to the CP inventory
So when they die, the confiscated items appear on their body
I'm also thinking of this system working with a Sterilized Credit system & the Recycler as well, so you can turn the contraband you have for a reward of some sorts

Just an idea

This would be fire. Gives a reason to confiscate contraband and having the responsibility for CPs to have to take it back for recyclement giving them a reward for it while also incentivicing players to work together to get it back.
